Каждой "твари" по паре

Translated as: by two of every kind. One of the many cute things that Ophelia has been doing lately, is carrying something in each hand whenever possible. Maybe it's for balance, maybe just for fun, but it is CUTE ! I find things out of place all over the house. She picks up fridge magnets in the kitchen and carries it to her room, leaves it there then takes her baby wipes and carries them into the living room, then puts them in a doll stroller and takes her doll and carries it somewhere else. She sure is a busy girl! And I am a busy Mommy to try to keep the house organized and straightened!

Hello there!

I was so excited to finally flip Ophelia around and have her face the front of the car. Apparently I was the only one excited about that. She didn't seem to think much of it. Oh well...I still love turning around and seeing her pretty face!

I can also pass things to her to keep her entertained (like a sippy cup), I also can tickle her feet to keep her awake. With all of that happening in the car, I am becoming "one of those" drivers...this is not good. I probably should concentrate more on driving :)

Our 1-year-old model

My good friend and (also an aspiring photographer) Vipha took Ophelia's 1-year pictures. She did a great job picturing her beautiful eyes! Check them out! Here is a link to Vipha's blog: . You see here these awesome pictures of Ophelia without seeing all the things I had to do to make her smile: barking, sneezing, playing peek-a-boo, claping, and even doing jumping jacks! It was fun :) Thanks, Vipha, for doing such a good job!

Ophelia is wearing a hand-made dress that PJ bought for her in Mexico. I thought it would be nice and colorful to take pictures in.

A year of joy

So...how did we get here? Let's rewind:

December 2009

September 1, 2009

Seeing Ophelia turn one, I kept thinking back to the day I first saw her and got to hold her. She has grown up so fast! She was born at 6 lbs and 19.25 inches and now she is all the way up to 19 lbs and 29.75 inches. As far as growth charts are concerned, she is skinny and tall, which I have no idea where she gets that from. I guess she can eat all the cake she wants - no weight problems for her!

It has been a wonderful year for us - Ophelia's first year of life. I can't believe the incredible amount of change that each baby goes through. I babysat a two-month old baby Carter this past week, who doesn't hold his head yet. Ophelia seemed so big and so heavy all of the sudden. Where did my sweet bundle of joy go? Can she be hiding in that cutie-pie toddler walking around all over the house with her arms in the air (for balance's sake)? It's been so much fun watching her developing first sounds, first babble noices, making first steps, first falls (that one was not so much fun), first smiles, first laughs, her first discoveries of toys, people, animals, books, TV, remote control, cell phones, car keys... Everything is so new and so exciting! I am so grateful to be her mother and to have this little person in my life!

We went on a walk today and Ophelia saw a cat. She was way excited and kept barking at it and showing the dog sign no matter how much I was meouing and showing the cat sign.

Last day of work...or first day???

PJ brought up a good point. Today was my last day of work, but next week will be my first day of "work" - of full-time mommyhood. I feel priviledged to be a mother. It's a hard role, but such an improtant one. I am excited to stay at home, plan menus, cook, do laundry, wash dishes, pick up toys and, most of all, to give kisses, cuddle, bite on those pudgy little thighs, tickle and play with Ophelia! (Let's see if I will still be of the same mindset a month from now). I will be working one day a week for now and I am grateful for a job that allows me such flexibility. I am going to miss working daily with such a wonderful group of women.

One of my office mates - Patty!

Working hard :) This was not staged either :) Right, Pat?

The team (or those who were there on my last day): me, Cindy, Patty, Meri, Claudia, and Bailey.

Ophelia's golden birthday.

Well, Ophelia turned one on the first, I guess that makes for a golden birthday. I still can't believe that my little sweet girl is sooo big now. She had an awesome birthday. Our long-time friends graciously threw a birthday party for her at their house. Here are a few highlights:

Pretty good for a one-year-old, huh?
